Professional Development

Ideal practice for a comprehensive professional development program must be provided for all school staff involved in the education of high ability learners and must include:
  • A general understanding of giftedness/high ability, student needs and best practice in nurturing giftedness through effective services
  • On-going development in giftedness education
  • Recognition that there are varied professional development needs among staff.
Ideal practice for those working with high ability learners should include:
  • Licensing and/or participation in ongoing professional development in gifted education
  • Opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in gifted education according to the role played.
